Solving Word Problems

Read the problem carefully and describe it by an equation.  Then solve the equation and write the answer in words.


Example 7

A number is added to 7 and the result is 10.  Find the number.

Solution:

Subtract 7 from both sides to find the number is 3.

So, the number is 3.
